Licensed Class C Room & Boarding Home for Mentally Disabled
"Where we provide transitional and temporary housing for those who are in need."

OUR MISSION
J’s House is an Irvington-based nonprofit organization serving Newark residents through the operation of a licensed Class C Rooming and Boarding Home. Our mission is to provide safe, affordable, and supportive housing for adults experiencing mental health disabilities and housing insecurity, while promoting stability, dignity, and long-term independence.
Since 2014, J’s House has addressed the critical gap in stable housing for vulnerable individuals who are often underserved by traditional shelter systems. Through structured living environments, individualized case management, and partnerships with local hospitals, service providers, and community agencies, we empower residents to transition from crisis to stability.
J’s House is committed to fostering a safe, trauma-informed, and supportive environment where residents can rebuild their lives, strengthen life skills, improve wellness, and work toward self-sufficiency. Having provided care and housing to over 300 individuals, our organization continues to serve as a trusted community partner dedicated to reducing homelessness and improving outcomes for adults living with mental health challenges.
Vision Statement
Our vision is to create a community where every individual experiencing mental health disabilities and housing insecurity has access to safe, stable housing and the supportive services necessary to thrive.
J’s House envisions a future where homelessness among vulnerable adults is reduced through coordinated care, strong community partnerships, and trauma-informed supportive housing models that prioritize dignity, independence, and long-term wellness.
